Michael Johnson is founder of johnson banks, the award winning brand and identity consultancy based in London. For over two decades his company has carried our major branding projects across the world, including Virgin Atlantic and the Science Museum in the UK, Acumen in New York and cultural centres in Paris and Japan. A frequent speaker on branding, he has been identified as one of Britain’s foremost designers by the Guardian and Independent newspapers, is one of D&AD’s most awarded designers of all time (with eight pencils from 14 nominations), and a past president. He has co-curated exhibitions and books (Rewind, V&A, Phaidon 2002/3) and published his first book (Problem Solved, Phaidon) in 2002. His next publication, lifting the lid on the entire branding process, is due out this autumn (Branding: The definitive guide to the strategy and design of brand identities, Thames and Hudson, 2016).
