LM Dupli-cation is a record­ing label in Albu­querque, NM, that spe­cial­izes in con­trast­ing his­toric and con­tem­po­rary music, as well as world­wide tra­di­tion­al and non­tra­di­tion­al music.

APPROACH

The goal of the design was to cap­ture a time when record labels were more impor­tant than indi­vid­ual artists. We led with the record label logo and text for the cov­er, plac­ing the impor­tant infor­ma­tion up-front, rather than an image, the dom­i­nant medi­um for CD covers. 

Being in conversation with the printer and understanding the level of care that they put into the project made for an exceptional outing. The combination of letterpress and offset worked quite well, as their registration methods were spot-on. To utilize the Arigato Pack design from Stumptown, we made it a top-load and were able to use the side flaps for limited liner notes—this avoided the additional cost of an insert.
