CLIENT

Tande­modus, based in Chica­go, IL, helps clients tell their sto­ries through con­cept, design and pro­duc­tion of brand and iden­ti­ty pro­grams, print and dig­i­tal com­mu­ni­ca­tions. As design­ers and strate­gists, thinkers and doers, man­agers and imple­menters, Tande­modus believes the best solu­tions come from putting their heads together.


APPROACH

The idea behind the card was to craft twen­ty “10 Best” lists from 2010. It was a fan­tas­tic group col­lab­o­ra­tion among the stu­dio to not only con­cept each of the twen­ty lists, but also to defend the nom­i­na­tions in each cat­e­go­ry. We devel­oped a rather large amount of light read­ing that func­tions as the tex­ture that defines the title. Once the basic for­mat for pro­duc­tion was decid­ed, the fun­da­men­tal exer­cise of find­ing the per­fect com­bi­na­tion of line break, point size, kern­ing, and lead­ing began as we were deter­mined to cre­ate the title of the piece from the run­ning list itself.

The challenge of designing a typographically detailed piece paled in comparison to printing it. With obvious concern, yet optimism, Steracle Press rose to the challenge and executed it with perfect registration of the two spot colors. The grand lesson? Work with artisans that are confident in their abilities.
