Prior to founding Koto, James worked at some of London’s leading design studios, for the world’s biggest brands. Projects for clients ranging from Google to MTV to Nike saw him gain experience across disciplines including motion, digital and environmental.
In 2013, as Creative Director of London agency DesignStudio, James led the rebrand of tech giant Airbnb, which went to to receive acclaim and notoriety. Since starting his own agency three years ago with two partners Caroline and Jowey, he’s lead the team to a size of 25 with a focus in creating and working with tech brands including Airbnb, PayPal and Sonos.
Koto works at the intersection of brand and digital. Previously the domain of separate agencies this understanding of both areas allows them to bring brands to life, create the platforms for them to engage their customers and then help them fill these channels with the right brand expressions.
His central role at Koto is engaging and empowering brands and their leaders in the nuances of an every day successful brand experience.
