In August 2010, Symantec announced it would acquire Verisign, known to the consumer as that little check mark at the bottom of a credit card online form that gives you relative peace of mind that some douchebag is not going to steal your info and go to the Bahamas. Symantec dropped its marble icon and adopted the pixelated checkmark.

If you are currently surfing the internet it might be in part thanks to Verisign, a “provider of Internet infrastructure services for the networked world.” A good-sounding fact: “Verisign manages two of the world’s 13 Internet root servers, a.root-servers.net and j.root-servers.net, considered national IT assets by the U.S. Federal government.” Symantec recently purchased Verisign and adopted the former’s logo as their own.

Super Rugby

Super Rugby, previously known as Super 14 (or Super 12 before that) for the amount of participating teams, is a rugby league comprised of teams from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. This year they’ve added one more team for a total of 15, hence the name change, and have changed the format of the season.
