Here are our favorite twelve menus shown on Art of the Menu this year. We will be back with our regular programming on January 10, 2019.
A great staggered approach with a wide range of cloth colors all nicely accentuated with gold foil.
A charming hen drawing looks great as a backdrop in the interiors and as an elegant gold foil logo against the dark blue leather case.
These large-scale scrolls are a fun and impactful alternative to the typical board menus.
Beautiful embossing job on the cover and a rich treasure of illustrations on the inside.
Presented as a book of spells, the illustrations and typography are enchanting.
A striking mix of materials and colors, with the leather cases working beautifully with the yellow paper and orange band. Crisp layouts too.
A little too cutesy for me but that doesn’t stop this faux diary to be delightfully made.
A fairly classic menu case but complemented in a surprising way by groovy illustrations.
I loved the concept of this restaurant identity (you can read about it in the original post) and the execution is unexpected and out of the ordinary.
Another great concept by the same design firm, abstracting the configurations of Greek islands through a mix of print methods.
Super elegant and beautifully produced, this set of dark green menus are simply top notch.
Taking the number one spot is probably the least “graphic” of all the menus but it’s the choice of material that sealed it for me. Sidestepping most menu trends — wood boards, leather, cloth-bound, clamps, etc. — these leathery, velvet-y, silky menus drip and droop as if they were in Salvador Dali’s The Persistence of Memory.
