APPROACH

”Like a Glove: A Love Sto­ry” was cre­at­ed for per­son­al edi­fi­ca­tion and to send out as an inau­gur­al pro­mo­tion­al piece to friends, fel­low design­ers, cur­rent clients, and future clients. The sto­ry of knit­ted moose find­ing love on the snowy hills of far away had been in my head for a while, and while the poster was sent dur­ing the hol­i­day sea­son I’d like to think that the sto­ry tran­scends reli­gious hol­i­day affil­i­a­tions, time, space, gen­der, and species. Or, maybe it’s just plain fun.”

Finding a US-based vendor was a challenge and required weeks of chasing leads. Working with an unfamiliar medium required lots of communication between the vendor and designer to make sure that the digital files were reproduced accurately (flocking is a raised, fuzzy substance applied to paper using an electric field and glue).

Judge’s Comments
From the moment I saw this poster I loved it. The designer really used the medium as the basis of the design and because of that it’s such a harmonious, wonderful piece. The illustration itself is great. I love that not only is it flocked but the illustration is meant to look like a woven sweater. Brilliant! Anytime a piece makes me envious I know it’s a winner and this one turned me a vivid green. — Jessica Hische
