Copperplate Gothic, the predominant typeface in these menus and the restaurant’s logo, is one of my least favorites but, for some reason, whenever you add outlines or hard shadows (as opposed to blurry shadows) the thing comes alive — I believe Copperplate was put on this earth to serve as a logo for restaurants. The supporting typefaces, from H&F-J’s Cyclone to Clarendon, paired with an accoutrement of food and utensil vignettes playing tone-on-tone with a deep colored background make the covers of these menus look quite appetizing.
