Speak Up Soireé

It is official. Party. AIGA. Vancouver.

This Friday the 24th join us for some full-blown designer mingling after, um, all the mingling you will do all day. But this is Speak Up-mingling, in my opinion one of the coolest mingling possibilities available at the conference.

Facts:
Alibi Room
157 Alexander Street (between Main and Columbia)
7:00 PM — until there is nothing else to talk about
First rounds from 7:30-8:30 are on us!

Make sure you come, remember we have a surprise. You might not be that surprised now that I think of it, but it’s certainly cool. Very cool.

Armin, et. al.,

Sorry, I am going to miss it... all of it!

Due to new client work, at the last minute I am not going to the Conference. Had to cancel all travel plans yesterday and today.

Wish I could get my registration refunded.

I know you were going to send me a Speak Up tee under the auspices that I was going. It has not arrived yet, but if it does I will gladly pay the asking price.

To everyone else that will be there. Enjoy, and have one for me.

See you in Boston 2005.

How long does it take to get a passport? And do I REALLY need one to get into Canada, or can I just talk weird like they do and pass on without problem? I might actually be free towards the end of this week...

Bradley - it takes about 6 weeks to get a passport. Do you have an old/expired one? Or if you somehow have a copy of your birth certificate (I know, who the hell would?), then that will suffice.

You can take your chances with just a driver's license, but it could be a huge hassle, depending on the border location you cross. Getting into Canada is easy. It's getting back into the US that's tough.

Hope you can figure something out. Good luck.

No. They only require photo ID and proof of US citizenship. My passport expired last month and I used it (and my expired driver's license) and my birth certificate with no problems.

It takes about 6 weeks to get a passport.

If you have a passport office in your city, it takes 24 hours. Call for an appointment, show up with 2 photos, the fee and a confirmed itinerary, and you can pick up your new passport the next day.

If you get any hassles from your comrades at the border going back to the US, mention that you're an NRA member. That may help...

wow. did not know that. I know that there's a 48 hour rush service -- and it costs $40 extra or something like that. But 24 seems too efficient for a government office.

It took 6 weeks last time I renewed.

But the point is that you need more than a driver's license nowadays.

Okay, I'll be honest: I'm really upset about missing the par-tay because the curiousity about the sheep "so damn cool it will burn your eyeballs" paper thing is killing me.

Tan, if you come home to a broken window and a missing sheep-thing, do NOT look my direction. It wasn't me.
