Graphic designer Katherine Young, decided to create her own cover for the magazine Girls’ Life focusing more on empowering and inspiring girls. In the original side-by-side, the Boys’ Life magazine cover focused on an “Explore Your Future” theme, telling its readers how to pursue their interests in various careers including astronaut, artist, firefighter, or chef. Young hopes that her cover and the conversation it sparks will be a wake-up call to magazine editors about the kinds of messages they are sending.
