Brochure and Announcement for Luckyrice by Parliament of Owls

CLIENT

Luck­yrice is a media and mar­ket­ing com­pa­ny with a big appetite for Asian-style cui­sine and cul­ture. Every May they host a food fes­ti­val, a week-long string of events from cock­tail par­ties to a fes­tive night market.

APPROACH

The fes­ti­val guide and announce­ment brochures book­end­ed the brand­ing project. The announce­ment, which was the first piece to be designed and pro­duced, not only reveals the year’s events but, as the nest­ing fold opens, it reveals a cityscape. The guide brochure was cre­at­ed to house more details and was dis­trib­uted at every event. Ref­er­enc­ing the announce­ment brochure, a sur­prise cov­er inte­ri­or reveals the cityscape and a detach­able post­card. The inte­ri­or was print­ed on a toothy off-white newsprint paper to con­trast the crisp white cov­er stock.

Matching PMS colors (including a metallic) that were printed on white with CMYK in the off-white interior proved to be tricky. To compensate, the aubergine value was lightened and we had a good deal of yellow taken out. A minty green was introduced to replace the gold metallic.
