Due to time constraints on her schedule, Kelli was not able to design the poster herself so we helped ourselves to some torn-paper fun as homage to Kelli’s paper mad skillz. We wanted to translate the feel of paper via silkscreen so we did a half-size version of the poster (shown at the end of the post), photographed it, isolated the paper from the letters, half-toned it, and then layered it again in Photoshop. As the big finale we thought it would be cool to do a split fountain just in the letters to make them jump from the paper and shadows generated from the photo. Industry Print Shop nailed the magenta-to-yellow-to-cyan split fountain and it looks way smoother than our Photoshop mock-up. The vibrating-stroke on some of the letters in the photos below is simply the color saturation freaking out the camera against the black and white starkness of the halftone.
