A regular feature on FPO (see issue #3 and #4), i.E. Magazine is created by the students of the Design and Graphic Arts Technology of the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar. Issue #5 investigates photography, print production, and art using two colors and transparency paper, while being completely produced using the school’s equipment.

Project Description
The number five of the i.E. Magazine was produced under the responsibility of the students of Design and Graphic Arts Technology of the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar. In this new issue the students chose to address different kinds of subjects such as photography, print production, customization of documents and the book as an object of art. In addition to the challenge of producing the full contents, they wanted to innovate with respect to layout and graphic production. The cut format of this edition draw inspiration from the edition of "The Slant Book" (1910) from Peter Newell, "I am Blop!" from Hervé Tullet and number 5 issue of the magazine "Show Off". For the cover they tried to work with the transparency of the paper Golden Star K from Fedrigoni printed in one color, and the core in Munken Lynx printed in two colors. Again, all the production, printing and finishing was done using the equipment available in the graphic arts laboratory of the Polytechnic of Tomar.Production Lesson(s)
It's not easy to ‘think out of the box’ concerning special cut formats or printing in different stocks. But we like to try, make mistakes, and share our findings. In our school we can do it... we can fail... but you always need to find a solution and create something new.
