While most speakers at our event have so far asked if they could get heavier paper for their poster, Christopher went the opposite route and asked if he could get the lightest paper available: newsprint. Industry Print Shop had some newsprint sheets from Uline that they sold us — otherwise we would have had to buy 7,000 sheets — and we were on our way to fulfilling Christopher’s crappy stock dreams. He also wanted the colors to be extra bright and jarring but newsprint is not known for its ink reflectiveness. We originally spec’d fluorescent PMS colors but Industry suggested going with a regular yellow (394) and Orange 021, both of which came out jarring and awesome. As a bonus, the inks do a little dance with the right lighting: check out the video at the bottom that shows the inks coming in and out of focus as the venue was testing its light system. Oh, and also, there is a Godzilla made out of stars on the poster.
