Project Description
Christchurch is a beautiful city in the small country of New Zealand. We’ve been through a great deal, with devastating earthquakes in recent times, but that still remains. Great food, amazing street art, live music, shopping. The sports, the views, the coffee to drink, the people to see, and the culture we all bring. We really wanted to celebrate this in a tangible way and to let the rest of New Zealand (and the world) know that Christchurch is open for business. To remind people to shop local and support the great work that makers and doers create right under our noses.We created a set of art prints using gold foil and black offset on heavy uncoated stock, available for purchase in a limited edition run of 100.
Production Lesson(s)
There is a balance of pressure required to create the perfect coverage of gold foil on an uncoated stock. In order to get an even spread on what is quite a soft card, we had to hit it hard enough to get the right impression without damaging the block. We also came across hickeys (specs of dust or debris) on the plates, and with quite a detailed print, it was important to check every thick line of black ink for imperfections.
