Project Description

Back Alley is a barbershop that wants to re-introduce the old school way of grooming men. We wanted to showcase a mix of old school and new school aesthetics when we designed the identity and the space. It's a high-end establishment, so we wanted to show this in the production as well.

We wanted to experiment a bit with the menu. So instead of buying ready made clipboards, we made one from scratch. We pasted galvanized iron sheet and wood together. To keep the paper menu in place, we used magnets. The barbers liked using it because it's convenient and useful at the same time.

We also asked Cacha, a local leather shop to make custom leather coasters. Apart from being a barbershop, Back Alley serves good coffee and beverages to their clientele.

Production Lesson(s)

This was quite interesting in terms of production because we were able to try new things. For one, the business cards were printed in Singapore. Even if the production was a bit pricey, it was still cheaper compared to printing it here in Manila. It also helped that our client was based in Singapore (but the business is here in Manila), so he did the coordination for us. I know it's a bit backwards, but our client is awesome that way. People who saw the cards were really impressed because you rarely see cards printed that way here in the country.”
