These brochures have a hidden message of sorts. In accordance with the concept — a layered statement encouraging users to explore beyond the surface, and question everything — the french-fold-bound booklet is perforated along the folds. Savvy readers will break the seal to discover in-depth information between the pages with bold messages.

Project Description

The Munk School of Global Affairs was in need of a new brochure that spoke directly to students seeking to garner the designation of Master of Global Affairs (MGA). MGAs are new class of innovators and problem-solvers tackling the world's pressing global affairs issues—people willing to experiment and take risks. They bring together multiple perspectives to solve complex problems with countless, layered, moving parts. With all that in mind, we sought out to create a layered statement that encourages users to explore deeper than what's just on the surface, and question everything!

On first pass of the brochure, students will come across a big and bold statement; Every problem can be solved with a question … but not every question has a single answer … and not every answer can be easily found … it's those who know how to explore all avenues & ask the right questions … that will uncover the solutions they seek. For some they'll take it in as a short and sweet statement and nothing further. The real explorers will learn that if they look a little deeper (inside the folds of the brochure) they can tear pages open, and find all the information they are looking for.

Production Lesson(s)

Getting the right perforation was a good lesson in trial and error before we found a suitable one. It either was too hard to pull apart, or fell apart when the sheet was folded, it took sometime to our goldilocks.”
