A design mentor once told me, “You’re a designer, so you should never have to buy a card for any occasion. You should put your talents and education to use, and make them all.” In perhaps the ultimate realization of this advice, Stewart Scott-Curran created a custom-designed, laser-etched cherry wood crest for his wife on their fifth anniversary—the wood anniversary.

Project Description
For our 5th wedding anniversary I created an illustration based on a random, yet significant set of images that have been important markers to us throughout our relationship. Tradition has it that the 5th anniversary is designated as 'wood' so it made sense to have the illustration laser etched into that material.Production Lesson(s)
The level of detail achievable through laser engraving is incredible. If doing a similar project I would definitely push the medium to its limits and explore what is possible.
