Through typography, color palette, and a bit of playful laser cutting these save the date announcements do a great job representing the fun and excitement of a wedding, and the techie side of the two grooms.

Project Description

We were approached by two tech-savvy grooms who are engaged and hired us to design and print their save the dates. They wanted an element of surprise, yet something modern and witty. We came up with the idea to have an image that could be read one way through the use of laser-cutting and letterpress printing on the front, and when the card was opened, it contained the rest of their message.

Production Lesson(s)

For laser cutting, we realized that using Mohawk Superfine paper is preferable over the Crane's Lettra since it leaves less of a burn/smoke mark from the laser. We also added a stroke to the interior print so the laser cut shape would have trapping room for overlay.”
