Project Description

With WoodSmithe being a design build firm it only seemed appropriate to internally develop business cards for our team... right? First we took two sheets of ebony veneer and laminated them together to create double sided blanks. Next we laser cut thesheets of veneer into 3.5-by-2-inch standard business cards. Then came the fun part, figuring how we wanted to put our name on them. Months later after pursuing countless options including dye sub, digital UV, and various letterpress techniques we decided on foil.  We loved how the foil option looked with our favorite color combo... black on black.

Production Lesson(s)

Because we had some time to play with we tried sampling several types of printing techniques including uv print in white and black, deboss and emboss in both black and white and blind, letterpress in both black and white and finally foil in both black and white. Out of every option the black foil stood out to us all the most. We also attempted to edge print in white but it just didn't look clean enough for us. ”
