Project Description
“The South Illustrated” 2013 calendar was designed exclusively for Garden & Gun for our sister company Sideshow Press. Each calendar page is hand pressed on our pony-sized 1926 letterpress. We illustrated each month with a drawing of a southern staple and paired it with a quote by a southern author. The monthly cards are displayed on a wood veneer mounting plaque with a leather strap for hanging. Each calendar set comes packaged in a burlap bag sewn with a letterpress tag.Production Lesson(s)
As a way to make the product affordable, we split the print run so that half of the months were 3 colors and the remainder was printed as 2 colors. This small adjustment helped reduce our press time and make the calendar more affordable.
