Project Description

Kate's Paperie in New York is famous for its unique gift wrapping. Our mandate was to produce a holiday gift guide that was equally creative in both looks and content, to enhance Kate's Paperie's image as not just a place for excellent gift wrapping, but also as an expert on the gifts inside. The cover design plays off the the title "Unwrapped" with layered, uneven sheets that only partially covered the booklet.

Production Lesson(s)

While I had a good idea how I would design the interiors, the cover went through multiple iterations and concepts. The final cover idea came about when the title of the gift guide was changed from 'Boon' to 'Unwrapped'. Inspiration comes in the most unlikely places, and with the new title came the idea of partial covers that played off of the concept of wrapping and revealing. Aligning the uneven covers for binding was a little bit of a challenge, but fortunately our printer, Taylor Tocci, nailed it. ”
