Project Description

Troy and Lisa of Portland General Store have created a unique and unabashedly male line of authentic and all natural personal care products. Each of their products are custom-mixed from sea minerals, clays, essential oils and and other plant-derived ingredients. Not only are the products well made, but are smart, masculine and sleek. Their inventory includes such items as Whiskey After Shave, Face Bomb Cleansing Mud, and Maine Cologne.

PGS contacted Stitch in June to help design and produce the catalogue for their latest collection. In collaboration with Sandy Lang (copywriting) and Peter Frank Edwards (photography) we designed a piece that showcased the life and lifestyle of the typical Portland General Store male. The intent was to make the photography the hero. We took cues from the Machine Era when selecting fonts and graphic details, which were both minimally enfused throughout the piece.

Production Lesson(s)

Since the design and production phase happened in about 2 weeks total, there was no time to waste. We were very cautious and calculated when selecting paper and printing process in order to ensure that the printer met our clients deadline. The cover was released in advance of the interior pages in order to buy a little time.”
