Expansive foil stamped patterns on rich black cover emit an air of luxury fit for such a valuable resource. The gorgeous Black Cockatoo flying out of the event invitation is a bit like a canary in a coal mine… but since it’s still alive we’re good to go!

Project Description

This is printed matter for a launch event for the opening of a new Coal mine for Xstrata Coal situated in New South Wales, Australia. The mine was called "Mangoola" an Aboriginal word meaning Black Cockatoo, a native Australian bird. The inspiration came from the black feathers of the bird and the layering of feathers and an open-cut coal mine. A prestigious event effect was needed. So 2 foil colours were stamped into covers and invites, an invite was laser cut in the shape of wings and feathers.

Production Lesson(s)

Making large foil stamp blocks at size 450mm × 280mm to wrap around case bound boxes is time consuming and costly. Laser cutting intricate patterns is also time consuming and costly. You need plenty of time for production and a healthy budget.”
