Faulkner is known as one of the fathers of stream of consciousness writing, and As I lay dying is his self-proclaimed “tour-de-force.” Abstract symbolism, color, shape, and line speak to our subconscious in this modern take on a classic cover — making us wonder if, in fact, all of our mothers are fish.
The first piece in a series, this personal project was born out of two things: my love for the work of Faulkner and my distaste for all currently available jackets for his books. The jacket was screen printed in three colours, so there is a certain level of tactility when holding the book. The intent is to revitalize the look of the library in order to open new readers up to one of the greatest modernist writers. Hopefully.
