Great Christmas card designs are like gifts from Santa—they appear out of thin air with a jolt of holiday spirit instead of dragging one into holiday production hell. Printing on assorted paper leftovers, the Scamihorn’s Christmas card was created in just 6 hours from concept to completion, leaving them the rest of the season to take the card’s advice.

I folded a few by only scoring with an exacto blade and realized very quickly that I needed to get a book-binding bone scorer. I also learned that if you’re printing on different paper textures, it’s best to start with the flat, smooth papers and move towards the deepest tooth at the end of the run. There are different bleed anomalies and if you print on rough and then smooth, the roughness of the lines will carry through onto the smooth.
