Light-hearted but romantic, this wedding invite beckons us to the timelessness of a past era while celebrating the awesomeness that is the now. Plus, those portraits rule.
We are getting married at Alberton, an old Victorian house (rare in New Zealand) that was occupied until the 1970s, but is now considered a historic place and available for tours and events. I photographed ornaments from around the house to incorporate into the design and tried to typographically match to the spirit of the house—choosing GIll Sans as it was on a few books and old packaged items on display. Given the Victorian theme, incorporating old stock illustrations and slightly silly photos of ourselves seemed appropriate—the wedding will be quite a casual affair, so having a bit of humour in the invites was important.
