Business cards with a shape a little out of the ordinary are always nice to see. They offer something slightly different that makes them stand out. The bright orange spot color doesn’t hurt either. There is a lot of detail in the small, thin type treatment that seems like it could easily get lost in the the press but somehow manages to remain legible.
This project was challenging on a couple of levels. First, the PMS on the solid is 152. When printing solids on Letterpress, it is necessary to cut the ink back with Transparent White. The reason being that PMS books are printed using an Offset process. Offset Printing lays ink down much thinner than Letterpress.Therefore, the ink must be thinned out. Secondly, the trimming was very critical on this project to insure a thin, even white border on all four sides.
