JDRF

JDFR Logo, Before and After

Established in 1975, JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) is a leading global organization focused on type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. A new logo has been introduced by JDRF, which is also downplaying the “Juvenile” angle of their organizations as 85% of those affected with T1D are adults. From the press release: “An essential graphic element in the logo design is the unique and clever inclusion of the ‘T1D’ symbol. Intentionally subordinate to the JDRF name, the symbol reinforces our focus on type 1 diabetes, and moves us toward establishing T1D as identifiable shorthand.”

Double Crossed

Mercy Health Logo, Before and After

Established as early as 1871 with a 25-bed hospital by the Sisters of Mercy in St. Louis and slowly and loosely expanding into Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas, Mercy Health System is now a network of 28 hospitals, with more than 40,000 employees, treating nearly 2.7 million patients each year. As the network has expanded over the years, each facility has created its own logo, failing to establish any connection within the larger system despite being known as one of the better wired health networks. Earlier in August, Mercy introduced a new logo that will be adopted by all of its hospitals and they will all be known simply as Mercy.

Committee of Organ Donation in Lebanon

Organ Donation Logo

The Committee of Organ Donation in Lebanon is an organization dedicated to gifting organs from donors to people in need. Their identity centers on what would be a grisly concept if it was not so tastefully done. A bit more information can be found here.
