Brand and the Evolved Consumer
We are in an era of sweeping change and global challenges. With this, something new is emerging: a focus on the real. Marketers have exhausted the means by which they persuade us and consumer confidence is slipping. As professionals in the field of marketing and design, what does this mean and what are we left to do about it?

A new paradigm has arisen; consumers have become conspicuously aware that their emotions are being managed (and have been for the last 10-20 years). As a result, authentic branding and identity building is now vital.

Consumers are looking for a brand they can have a powerful, moving connection to—a connection that resonates with the core values of their lives. Our presenter calls this “soul expression via commerce” and will talk about how we can fold this concept into the work we do everyday.

About the speaker
Jody Turner is the founder and CEO of Culture of Future, with offices in San Francisco, LA, and NY. She has contributed to projects for Nike, Starbucks and IDEO and currently assists companies such as Old Navy and Apple with their design choices. Her background in design and archaeology allow her to meld the consumer's “object of desire”—be it product, service or experience—with power and meaning. She is passionate about discovering and defining pathways to authentic growth and evolution with the consumer.
