PRESENTERS:

Dean Crutchfield, Vice President, Marketing, Wolff Olins...

Dean Crutchfield has over 18 years of marketing and branding experience. He has forged relationships and won business with some of the world’s largest and most influential businesses. His primary responsibilities are promoting Wolff Olins services to prospective clients and acting as the company’s key liaison for partnering within Omnicom, the holding company that owns Wolff Olins. He has worked on a wide spectrum of large corporate, retail and consumer brands in the Middle East, Europe, United States and Asia, including BP, Citi, Kraft Jacob Suchard, Nomura, Nikko, McKinsey & Co., McDonald’s, PepsiCo, Shell, Staples, Smirnoff and Warburg Pincus.

...and Joseph M. Perello, Chief Marketing Officer, City of New York

Joseph Perello was appointed by Mayor Bloomberg as New York City’s first ever Chief Marketing Officer in April 2003. Prior to his appointment, he was the president of Perello & Company, a sponsorship and marketing agency servicing the sports and entertainment industries. Before that he was Vice President of Business Development for the New York Yankees where he developed many of the team’s successful business models. Perello also helped start David Bowie’s interactive firm UltraStar and spent almost 10 years with the affinity credit card giant MBNA America.


Leslie Smolan, Founding Partner, Carbone Smolan Agency...

For the past 25 years, Leslie Smolan has been internationally recognized for her work in brand identity, publishing, and marketing communications. Her passion is to make large amounts of complex information understandable and appealing to a wide audience. A relentless pursuit of a distinct, client-driven aesthetic complements her planning capability and her creative direction is notable for its timeless finesse and carefully nuanced detailing.

...and Adam Greiss, Creative Director, Morgan Stanley Creative Services

As Creative Director for Morgan Stanley Creative Services, Adam is responsible for providing print design, Web design, brand direction, animation, advertising, marketing, electronic presentations, screenshows, and pitchbooks for the global investment bank Morgan Stanley. For 20 years, Adam has been responsible for award-winning corporate identity, branding, corporate capabilities brochures, annual reports, CD packaging, advertising, packaging, and publications for some of the leaders in American industry. Adam’s work has received 50 national and international awards including AIGA, Type Directors Club, Graphis Brochures, Graphis Posters, Graphis Shopping Bag, Print Regional, Print’s Best Logos and Symbols, Society of Publication Designers, American Corporate Identity, Creativity and the American Design Awards.


Matteo Bologna, Principal, Mucca Design...

Matteo Bologna was born and raised in Milan, Italy where he started his career as a freelance illustrator and designer. He moved to NY in the early nineties where he worked as Senior Art Director for Ralph Appelbaum Associates. In 1999 he created the award-winning firm, Mucca Design specializing in a range of branding services for a variety of industries—from publishing and hospitality to software and fashion. Among Mucca Design’s notable clients are Adobe Systems, André Balazs Properties, Balthazar Restaurant, Rizzoli Publishing and HarperCollins Publishers.

...and Keith McNally, Founder & Owner, Balthazar

Keith McNally has built some of the best known restaurant brands in the city. In 1980, McNally opened his first restaurant, The Odeon, in Manhattan’s Tribeca. This was followed by numerous successes including Café Luxemburg in 1983, Nell’s in 1986, Lucky Strike in 1989, Pravda in 1996, Balthazar in 1997, Pastis in 1999 and Schiller’s Liquor Bar in 2003. Since its opening, Balthazar has grown to be its own multifaceted brand. Besides the restaurant, there is Balthazar bakery (both a wholesale and retail business) as well as the Balthazar Cookbook, which Keith wrote with co-chefs Riad Nasr and Lee Hanson. Balthazar recently won an award for one of Restaurant magazine’s 50 best restaurants in the world.

For 15 years as a business development professional, Jody has fashioned and guided growth strategies for an extensive range of creatively-driven marketing and communications companies. She has run sales and business development functions at Carbone Smolan Agency, building key categories of business that led to new business wins from Morgan Stanley, Christie’s, and Montblanc, among others. Previously, Jody worked at R/GA Digital Studios, forging R/GA’s highly successful partnership with PBS and Intel on the Frank Lloyd Wright broadband interactive television project, which garnered an I.D Magazine Silver Award for excellence in design. Jody has also helped to establish a successful model for selling online advertising sponsorships at iVillage for clients like Quaker Oats, JC Penney and PBS. Currently, Jody Sutter is the Director of Business Development for OMD East. Owned by Omnicom, OMD is one of the world's largest media buying and planning agencies.
