A stamp design commemorating graphic design. Canada Post commissioned Vancouver’s Ion Design to design a stamp in honour of the 50th anniversary of the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada. The fun part is that it’s a really weird little typographic beaver, and I mean that as a compliment. This is one of the few times that two clichés have a happy collision. The cliché of the beaver for Canada, with the cliché of the typographic picture (using, predominantly, the characters for “gdc 50”) has resulted in a quirky, cute, and attractive stamp. Look for it soon on letters from me to you.
