CLIENT

Orange Ele­ment located in Bal­ti­more, MD, is a cre­ative brand­ing agency that offers a broad spec­trum of ser­vices, from cam­paigns, and brand strat­egy, to print, web, and iden­tity design.


BRIEF

We aimed to cre­ate a cus­tom gift that could be given out to our clients, friends, and fam­i­lies in appre­ci­a­tion of their sup­port over our first ten years.


APPROACH

Our intent was to cre­ate a series of non-denominational wrap­ping papers, appro­pri­ate for any occa­sion. Each mem­ber of the Orange Ele­ment team designed his or her own art­work and uni­fied them with a com­mon color palette.

PRODUCTION LESSONS

We faced sev­eral chal­lenges when print­ing the eight sheets. First, we had to decide upon an over­all order for which the five spot col­ors would be printed that would accom­mo­date each of the eight sheets’ design require­ments with­out dis­turb­ing the intended look of the art­work. Once on press, we encoun­tered some issues with ink densities—due to the lay­ing of sev­eral spot col­ors on top of one another—as well as odd ghost­ing on the outer edges on two of the sheets. Both issues were fixed by sub­tly tweak­ing on press and only held us up for a few hours.
