BRIEF

A lim­it­ed edi­tion poster for an in-store appear­ance at John­ny Cup­cakes Lon­don, UK, by Gaslight Anthem front­man, Bri­an Fallon.

APPROACH

The Gaslight Anthem’s songs are like a time cap­sule of a teenage Amer­i­can dream—car radios, boys, late nights, girls; all the things that make you want to grab the one you love and dri­ve all night until you’re some­body new. So along that theme I cre­at­ed the image of a girl sneak­ing out to meet up with a mys­te­ri­ous male fig­ure in a slick moon­lit Camaro. I’ve always liked the con­cept of frames with­in a frame, so using the win­dow as the cen­ter point I let the scene unfold from there. Min­i­miz­ing cost I kept it to three col­ors and I let that deter­mine how I used light and shad­ow with­in the illus­tra­tion. Then Mama’s Sauce came in the ring and body slammed it down for the three count to win it all!
