APPROACH

The con­cept for this piece comes from Joel Ben­son of Depend­able Letterpress—both the visu­al inspi­ra­tion of vin­tage plan­e­tary charts and the device, a per­pet­u­al cal­en­dar. And he want­ed to play with col­or well out­side of the more com­mon and bud­get con­scious 1- to 2‑color work.

A portion of the project (bindery and die-cutting) were done out-of-house, and this is what I learned: always go on a die/bindery check. No matter how busy you are. The whole job had to be re-printed after a major misstep in this stage of production.
