ASSIGNMENTIt was a pretty open assignment. Find a logo that was ineffective, being banal, inappropriate, ordinary or forgettable etc. Then, redesign to make it work.

ASSIGNMENTThe assignment was to choose a well-recognized brand and refresh its identity system. Final deliverables included the logo and a standards manual including 20+ applications of the identity in a variety of formats (environmental, consumer, multimedia etc.). Emphasis was placed on identifying the equity in the existing identity system and translating that into a refreshed identity system that could truly be the next generation of the brand.

ASSIGNMENTFinal project for class: choose your own project, as long as it is more substantial than anything else you have previously done for a design class. I chose to redesign Nordstrom's visual identity and create a Paul Rand-esque case study booklet for presentation in class.

ASSIGNMENTOur task was to pick a dead, dying or defunct brand and revive it. I was free to choose any brand I wanted as long as I could make a case for its need for a makeover. Besides redesigning the logo, I made the standards guide and thought of ways to expand the brand to make it more than just surfwear.
