ASSIGNMENT There was not a specific assignment, but I decided to rebrand Edgar Allan Poe's Poems for a younger audience. This included creating packaging and an advertising component. I chose Penguin Group as the publisher because of their marketing towards a younger audience and a history of rebranding classics.

Approach
I began by doing research. I was already familiar with Poe’s poetry, but I looked at how the poems could relate to each through underlying themes. I also researched how other stories in similar genres have branded or rebranded on bookshelves. This led me to graphic novels, and how their graphic images appeal both on covers and in movie theaters, with movies such as 300 and Sin City being popular recently. Based on this research and critiques in class, I decided to create a multimedia package, rather than a book alone. The package includes illustrated poems in print and a DVD with animations and a digital download of Poe’s work.
