Dear readers, please excuse this brief bout of self-promotion, I hope you don’t find it too intrusive — but it’s irresistible when we have such a great, influential supporting crowd. (Yes, I’m buttering you up). We have a new project from UnderConsideration that is not design related and takes us a little bit out of our comfort zone: Dyslexflix. For a more broad explanation you can read its about page. And, yes, you can critique our parody logo.

Even after reading the about page three times, I still can't figure out exactly what this is for or why it exists.
On Apr.07.2008 at 11:27 AMArmin’s comment is:
It exists for fun, nothing more.
So, another example: You watch The Squid and the Whale, and Netflix recommends Whales: An Unforgettable Journey: IMAX. That's wrong. That's not the kind of recommendation you want, as it makes no sense. Dyslexflix is all about making those wrong connections. Why? I answer with "Why not?" : )

I'm with @name. Great logo, catchy name, but I'm not sure what you're trying to do there. Is it just to document poor Netflix recommendations?

About as amusing, enlightening, and fulfilling as a game of Scattergories.
(re: logo) My eyes stopped reading after Dyslex... but a great idea for a product named Dyslexix™: toy cars that twist and completely transform from something like a Honda Accord into the shape of something like...
a Toyota Camry.
Armin’s comment is:
Noah, yes, pretty much. There is no big, ulterior motive for this. It's just another place to suck people's time away for no apparent reason other than the intrigue the internet provides.

I'm sure this is fine and clever, but it seems off-brand for UnderConsideration.

I think it's quite an amusing concept, a nice way to 'generate'/find films to watch. I'm usually wary of pastiche in graphic design, but I'll grant that it is quite appropriate here. Good job.

I'm not certain "dyslectic" is being used in its popular definition.
On Apr.07.2008 at 03:00 PMBen’s comment is:
Why the play on dyslexic in the name? Sounds like an insensitive and inaccurate joke about a serious disorder.

Man, between this and the April Fool's brouhaha, you just can't get a break, can you Armin?
I say keep up the good work.
Guys, give a brother a chance!

What's with all the negativity around here?! I think this is a fun twist on creating lists of movies.
Actually I'm really kind of shocked by the caustic nature of the commenting that occasionally shows up on these posts.

It's not. That's the best I can do as far as answering that.
> Man, between this and the April Fool's brouhaha, you just can't get a break, can you Armin?
"Can't Get a Break" is my middle name.

What is that typeface--Lenox Hill Condensed Shadow?

So basically it's a site making fun of the fact that NetFlix "Comparative Algorithm Code" leaves a lot to be desired and is just too literal as to "Keywords" rather then genre or plot.
I get it, but I still don't get it? But that happens to me alot so no surprise there.

Website is ... uhhhhhhh. Come on, guyz, all of the other sites on UnderConsideration look so nice! I think the idea is funny and I agree with how poor Netflix's recommendations are ... but if I liked Knocked Up, I'm gonna like Rosemary's Baby, whaaa?

I think there must be some kind of pandemic grumpiness going on around here these days.
I find this amusing (though i am easily amused).
Anyways, since I know you all enjoy reading critiques on brand identity, I recommend you all check out this book on logos. No doubt, you will never want to put this down.

The negativity may be quelled a bit if the "About" page was more direct and not so confusing. I keep reading it and still can't really figure out if this is a place to correct Netflix's bad recommendations or to just repeat them, and I imagine it's even worse for people not familiar with Under Consideration or Netflix.
It needs a quick "this is what this site is about" sentence right at the top with its own header to just get it out there. This sort of reminds me of how Pownce got started, and a majority of the users couldn't figure out what it was for or why they should use it, but they had this nagging feeling that they should use it, and that confusion breeds negativity.

Jeff—
that is the point.
see how "knocked up" is having a baby, and "rosemarys baby" is about a baby? but they are really not similar whatsoever beyond that?
see what he did there? har de har. i need something to do while im at work, right.
