I wish there was an explination of what Word It is somewhere on its site. The "Welcome to Word It" text is just recent news. Otherwise I have no idea what it is or why I might want to return.

Good point Nate. We'll look to add an about page today or tomorrow.

That's great. I was thinking the same thing when I first got to the site. I was trying to figure out what the posts were supposed to be.
Now I just wish more authors would post a link to who they are and the work they do.

I don't see the point in word it. You express yourself by putting your name on a 360 kb square of typography that you upload for the word of the month. It all seems really, time wasting. Why this anti self promotion theme btw too, if your an artist why would you have incentive to post an image if it doesn't link back to the rest of your creative? and you own the creative people post? oh boy... People if you got something cool to show and want to promote it and or people to review it without all this nonsense try some other sites that allow you to make posts with your own links/images like a million other sites that I don't feel like promoting today but you catch my drift.

Wrong. Whenever a link is provided, the image links back to the person's web site. What we do not allow, is placing your name, URL or slogan in the artwork itself.
> and you own the creative people post?
Wrong again. We retain the right to reproduce in the blog and other promotional use. Ownership belongs to whoever created it.

"the price to pay for fresh identity content…is some…self-promotion"
Well worth it. Your cross-promoting doesn't reek of sell-sell-sell. It's more like a waiter strolling by with a tray of fancy hors d'oeuvres at a party.
